Church of Christ Blanchard, OK

Church History

Members of the church of Christ first worshipped together in Blanchard in 1907. From 1907 until 1937, members worshipped in homes, in the old court house, and in the Presbyterian Church building located at 224 N. Jackson. In 1937, the church of Christ purchased the building from the Presbyterians and continued worshipping there until 1968, when they built a new building on the same site. The first worship assembly in the new building at 224 N. Jackson was held on July 21, 1968. This building was sold to the First Baptist Church and the church of Christ constructed a new building at 1220 N. Madison. The first worship assembly in the new 8,000 square foot building was held on July 16, 1978. In late 2006, construction began on an addition to the building adding a 450 seat auditorium, large foyer, office, restrooms, nursery, and classrooms. The first worship assembly in the new auditorium was held on November 18, 2007.

Past ministers include: E. Russell, Lynn McMillon, Jerrel Henderson, Jesse Whitlock, Jack Ney, Dwight Brown, and Stephen Coley.
